Menu Bar¶
Quick tunnel access from your menu bar without opening the main window.
Enable Menu Bar¶
- Open Settings (Cmd+,)
- Go to General tab
- Enable Show in Menu Bar
The menu bar icon appears immediately.
Menu Bar Icon¶
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Outline rings | No active tunnels |
| Filled rings with lightning | Tunnels running |
Using the Popup¶
Click the menu bar icon to open the popup:
- Tunnel list - All tunnels with status indicators
- Play/Stop buttons - Start or stop each tunnel
- Settings - Open app settings
- Main Window - Open full StormTunnel window
- Quit - Exit application
Closing the Popup¶
- Click outside the popup
- Click the menu bar icon again
- Press Esc
Controlling Tunnels¶
Start a Tunnel¶
- Click the menu bar icon
- Find your tunnel
- Click the play button ▶️
Stop a Tunnel¶
- Click the menu bar icon
- Find the active tunnel
- Click the stop button ⏹️
Status Indicators¶

Troubleshooting¶
Icon Missing¶
- Check Settings → General → Show in Menu Bar is enabled
- Check if menu bar is full (too many icons)
- Restart StormTunnel
Popup Not Opening¶
- Restart StormTunnel
- Try
killall SystemUIServerin Terminal
Status Not Updating¶
- Check network connection
- Verify tunnel status in main window
- Restart StormTunnel
